I'm a 2014 graduate of DePaul University in Chicago. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with double bachelor's degrees in Journalism and Public Relations-Advertising. I am currently living in the Southwest Suburbs of Chicago looking for a full time writing, producing, or PR job.
I started writing news (and winning awards for it) at the age of sixteen when I was appointed Editor of my high school newspaper. During my time at DePaul University I worked for the campus newspaper, radio, and TV programs, earning the job of Producer for the weekly television program Good Day DePaul in my senior year.
After my freshman year at DePaul I started work as a summer intern for the local papers in my town, The Regional and The Reporter. In the fall I got another internship at the local Chicago Sun-Times affiliate, the Southtown Star, based in neighboring suburb Tinley Park, which led to the thrills of my first front page story and a byline in the Sun-Times. When this internship was completed, both the Reporter and the Southtown took me on as a paid freelancer and I've been doing jobs for them on and off since. After graduating I also began doing freelance work for the southwest suburban publications of 22nd Century media.
Through my college years I covered anything and everything my editors have asked of me: town and school board meetings, local elections, an occasional national news story, and features on public events and the achievements of local residents and charities.
I've been given the opportunity to show my more personal side in my work by writing opinions pieces for the DePaulia and the Southtown, and the chance to share a childhood dream and document an all-access tour of the Shedd Aquarium for the Reporter.
For all I've gotten to experience so far, I hope this is just the beginning of my journalistic journey. If there's one thing I love about this field, it's that I'm never hearing the same story two days in a row and I always get to share my news with others as curious about the world around them as I am.
